For the 2nd time in 2007, the IWA has made a claim that ICW is too similar to their game to be legitimate. However, for the 2nd time in 2007, the IWA has been challenged to read and review the handbook and contents of ICW and point out any similarities between the two, aside from the fact that both are play-by-mail wrestling games.
These accusations and attempts by the IWA has pushed me to now have a copyright on this game, but it has also given me a great deal of happiness. When ICW started out, few took it seriously. Since that time, ICW has proven to be a favored game for both managers from 'other' games, as well as managers who have never participated in such games. Everyday, more interest grows and more people show interest. For that, I give most of the credit to those managers currently established in the game. You put us there. All I did was design the game and spread the word.
In closing, I want to thank each of you for making ICW a recognizable game in the world of play-by-mail sports.

How did the IWA made the claims? Did they emailed you?

Yes. The first time they emailed me was back in March, and i laughed at them because they tried to say that they owned the rights to all play-by-mail games. When they couldn't prove it, they left me alone. Then a few days before this thread was started, theyemailed me again and stated that I was using their handbook to run my game. I told them that it would be an insult to ICW managers if I were to use the IWA handbook, and I proceeded to email them the ICW handbook and asked them to point out any similarities. thus far, they have failed to point out anything substantial. Of course I look for them to try it again this year, as they have always had this 'Vince McMahon' frame of mind, when it comes to any other play-by-mail wrestling games...which is why so few have come out through the years, but none have survived.

Yeah, lots of people have begun to take an intrest in ICW like me for example... Ive asked I think two or three times for ICW to send me some lit on their game as I am thinking about joining. And after the boss, ol whats his face, asked for, and recieved my address, Ive still gotten nothing. My advice to the Powers that Be at ICW is this. If you want to survive in this bizz, when someone says they are intrested in your game but would like more information first.................SEND IT TO THEM!!!!!!! Jon E. Vil IWA 4 Life If you have read anything on this board, you will clearly see that I have had to rebuild everything after my former business partner hacked my files and deleted everything. If you have been to the ICW website at www.geocities.com/ImaginaryChampionshipWrestling then you have seen a link that goes to the handbook and guidelines of this game. If you have not done that, I suggest that be your next step. If you emailed me, I have emailed you information in the past. If you did not save my email to your address book, it likely went to your junk mail or your bulk mail. If you failed to check that mail and simply hit 'empty', then you deleted it.

I will also being sending out mass emails tonight. If anyone deletes them instead of looking for them, you will miss information as some have in the past. If you want those emails to come to your inbox, it is up to you to add ImaginaryChampionshipWrestling@yahoo.com to your email address book. If you have an additional email address that you are looking for email in, and it is not an email address that you emailed me from before, you must give that email address to me.
If you request information by mail, you need to send $1 to me at
Dennis Hammack 2345 Parkwood Avenue Toledo, OH 43620
If you have not given me your address since I requested it just weeks ago (after I informed everyone that all information was lost thanks to my former business partner), you have to send me your name and address or you will not receive anything. This means everyone. If I lost all information because of what Scott did, I lost yours too. Those who have given me this information know who they are.

Dennis Hammack Once ICW gets going and really gets a decent amount of players the IWA should worry. Yes I play IWA but I will say that the ICW match deals are better and since IWA just made the prices a little higher not too long ago they have a reason to worry.

I think it is funny the IWA claimed they had exclusive copyrights to Play by Mail wrestling. I was in the IWF for a few years before they closed and it had its own copyright. I almost thought about joining the IWA, but remembered why it is a PBM I have NEVER joined at all. I wanted to join ICW a while back, but had a lot going on.
Anyhow, I am Terrance and I will be joining ICW as soon as I can. I like the way the game looks.

This is definately the silliest thing i have ever heard. IWA owning the rights to all play by mail games. Surely they jest. For someone who has been in as Many PBM's as me, it is to laugh. Starting with the late great IWF, in which a former IWA manager recruited some friends and started it and it ran from 1997-2004. www.geocities.com/iwfworld/ Pretty much a dated link, very dated but you get the jist. www.gpwf.htmlplanet.com/sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/uwawrestling2006/mailgate.dada.net/rec/rec.games.pbm/msg03478.html www.tcwfantasy.com/ Those are a list of the Play by mails i have been to. TCW, IWF, GPWF, UWA, APWA Also ive been in the EFEDS EDW, MWA, XWL, WWA. groups.msn.com/TheMWAPPVsgroups.msn.com/EDW-ExtremeDestruction/edwhome.msnwwwarasslin.netfirms.com/Being a young play by mail Veteran and Efedder, This is all to laugh. In 1999 when I was 17, IWA seemed much more suited to a young child, rather then a young adult or a actual adult. No promotional reports, you written out matches. Just out there. Then I found IWF and the others came later. But IWF usually had a good manager in each league and every month had a good to decent report in each one, that was alot more sophisticated and adult minded. The IWA Mindset even today, seems to be win that money, win that money, and instead of playing as a character they fued as themselves. Which honestly, i have never understood, but hey different strokes for different folks. IWA actually was a long running joke, in our old promotion the IWF, of which many former members went back to the IWA. But this venture into ICW. Gives me hope, that something like i was once a part of, and once dared to dream, and dared to live my dreams through my creations. Hopefully growing and growing, until it bursts. My name is Chris Schmitt, you can call me Chris, Schmitty, etc. I love wrestling and i am looking forward to all this. This is like a big second chance for me if this works out. As far as the whole IWA owning all the rights thing. PU-PLEAZE. That is like Marvel Comics saying no one else can create comic books. Well Yall, peace out for now, and You got a baby on board. Oh Well, As my Friend T helped me learn. Schmitt Happens
